Hi!

If you’ve somehow stumbled on my blog, I want to personally welcome you here. This feels like a long time in the making. Fun fact: When I was younger, all I ever wanted to be was a writer, and then of course, I wanted to be a trapeze artist, and a ballerina and so on and so on, but what really stuck with me is the magnetic power that words have, and our ability to use them to tell stories, to paint pictures, and to become immortals to some extent, if our words live on long after we do. (Morbid I know LOL!)

I could spend this blog beating myself up about how long it took me to start writing again, how many drafts I’ve written and tossed, and how many times I’ve left this blog to gather cobwebs throughout the years, but let’s scrap that.

I want to start my first post ever with three lessons that I’ve learned, and the lessons that have led me here.

The first lesson is to always be your true, authentic self. It’s easy to get caught up in the world of social media, especially if you’re using it to grow your brand or start a new business, but what we don’t realize is that the world doesn’t want the same things over and over, we want to see you for who you truly are, and we relate to that way more than when you try to be someone else. I feel like in the early days of social media, I was more comfortable being myself but then the hate and cyber bullying started and I slowly became a shell; someone who came on ever so often just to promote classes, to show snippets of her life, but never truly the true expression of myself, and to be honest that makes me so sad. The world has to potential to change us in vast and inconceivable ways, and sometimes it may not even be apparent to us, but it’ll happen and it’ll grow over time, until soon, you won’t be able to recognize yourself. If you’re reading this, and it resonates with you, then I want you to never let anyone tell you how to act or who to be, or what to do with your life. Don’t ever change who you are by trying to fit in. The world needs more YOU!

The second lesson for tonight (it’s currently 8:38pm) and I’m typing this in my PJs, is to think of death from time to time. Trust me, I don’t know how we even got to this morbid first blog post LOL! But seriously, death has been on my mind, or rather the fragility of our times here on this earth. Whenever I think of the fact that every single day that we wake up, is a true blessing, I realize how important it is to really (and I mean REALLY) do exactly what you want to do in life, and stop focusing so much on everyone else and the opinions they have of you. If you’ve never thought about your mortality, maybe it’s time to sit down, and ask yourself – are you truly living? Are you truly happy? If your time was ending, would you truly and wholeheartedly say it was everything you wished for and more? And if not, why? What are you doing that is potentially taking away from your BEST life? How can you make steps towards it? What can you do to make sure that you LIVE every single day? I know it sounds crazy to do, but thinking about my mortality gives me this HUGE wave of courage to go out there ever single day and just LIVE. Try it, and let me know how it works for you!

Lastly (before this blog gets too long and you’ve maybe possibly zoned off), I want to let you know that it’s NEVER too late to change your life or reinvent yourself. I went from being a true science nerd, to an immunology researcher, to a medicinal chemist, to a yoga teacher, and now I have a studio, an APP, I teach pilates, I host retreats internationally (hehe went to BALI for my first one! Can’t wait to tell you how it was!), and I will continue to grow and improve myself and do exactly what I want to do. That’s why I decided to start writing again. I’ve been a total mess with recording for my podcast (I got super anxious around my Bali trip and couldn’t bring myself to record anything in the months leading up to it) so I gave myself a little break and I’m back! I love writing and I love recording, and who knows maybe this will be my one and only post (I hope not hehe), and maybe I’ll decide podcasts are more fun and engaging, but the point is, I’m trying something new. I am putting myself out there regardless! You will always make mistakes in life, trust me, AND you will fall off the wagon sometimes but all you have to do is get back up and try again. Time is an illusion, and it really is never too late to do the things you’ve always dreamed of.

Okay I’m signing off now! I hope you enjoyed this little paragraph from meeee

Lots of love always,

PJ
